Lara Almarcegui at the 2026 Biennale de Lyon

The 18th edition of the Biennale

We are pleased to announce the participation of Lara Almarcegui at the Biennale de Lyon 2026, Passer d’un rêve à l’autre / To pass from one dream to another, curated by Catherine Nichols.

The 18th edition of the Biennale takes the notion of passage as its starting point, inspired by Lyon’s traboules—hidden architectural routes that connect courtyards and buildings across the city. It reflects on transitions between perceptions, imaginaries, and systems of exchange, redefining “economy” as the circulation of relations, resources, and forms of attention that structure collective life. Drawing on Walter Benjamin and Robert Filliou’s Principes d’économie poétique, the exhibition opens up ways of thinking where dominant narratives of production and progress can be interrupted and reconfigured.

Lara Almarcegui’s practice focuses on the material reality of urban environments, often foregrounding sites in transition, abandonment, or demolition. Through documentation and site-specific interventions, her work makes visible the infrastructural and economic processes that shape the construction and disappearance of space.

The Biennale unfolds across multiple sites in Lyon, including Les Grandes Locos, the Musée des Tissus et des Arts décoratifs, and macLYON.
The Biennale will take place in Lyon from September 19, 2026 to January 3, 2027.
Stay tuned soon.
