Carreras Mugica is pleased to present the solo exhibition AIR PADDED TABLE HAUNCHES, AND... by Jessica Stockholder (Seattle, Washington, 1959).
→ Jessica StockholderJessica Stockholder has been associated on numerous occasions with certain artistic movements such as minimalism, abstract expressionism and colour field painting. In her work there is a permanent interrelation of new and used objects where the constructive density results in an undifferentiated treatment of materials whose convergent and divergent properties struggle to coexist. His sculpture has a marked pictorial component resulting from the treatment of painting as an object and the object as painting. The volumes of colour accompany the overflowing profusion of materials and objects that are harmoniously contained in a stimulating play that goes from the abstract to the concrete.
For this occasion the artist presents an exhibition whose central axis is the installation that gives its name to the exhibition and which was previously exhibited in the Art Unlimited section in the 36th edition of Art Basel. The installation is composed of different elements where light and colour interact to the point of transforming furniture and domestic objects into an unexpected sculptural space. Alongside this central piece, a selection of more compact sculptures is also on display.
