Koenraad Dedobbeleer

Through various manipulations and displacements, the artist creates ‘objects’ that seem to ques- tion their own status. While most of the sculptures display a very familiar look, none of them be- longs to our daily environment. They never are what they seem to be. Rather than being copies, the sculptures are interpretations of existing forms. A never ending shift of a reality into another.
Dedobbeleer is interested in how an object or an idea can undergoes status changes and simulta- neously exist within different realities and interpretations.

Koenraad Dedobbeleer (Halle, 1975) lives and works in Brussels. He had many solo shows at institutional venues in Europe, such as: Kunstverein Hannover, Germany (2019); CAC, Vilnius, Luthuania (2019); La Salle de bains, Lyon, France (2019); Kunstmuseum Winterthur, Switzerland (2019); WIELS, Brussels, Belgium (2018); Extra City Kunsthal, Antwerp, Belgium (2014); Gesellschaft Aktueller Kunst, Bremen, Germany (2014); De Vleeshal, Middelburg, The Netherlands (2013); Le Crédac: Centre d’art contemporain d’Ivry, Ivry-sur-Seine, France (2013); Castillio / Coralles, Paris, France (2012); Lok/Kunstmuseum, St. Gallen, Switzerland (2012); Culturgest, Lisbon, Portugal (2010); Museum Haus Esters, Krefeld, Germany (2009); Museum Abteiberg, Mönchengladbach, Germany (2007).
