The work that Azucena Vieites (Hernani, 1967) has developed to date, with an expressly low-fi aesthetic, has been carried out through approaches to contemporary visual culture, using graphic resources such as drawing or silkscreen printing. The aim is to represent an aesthetic memory in relation to a present time whose intensity is likely to fade away. Her practice gathers a feminist iconography, sometimes linked to the collaborative work with the group Erreakzioa, an initiative of which she is co-founder and which emerged in 1994 in the Basque scene. The multiplicity, the fragment or repetition as a break with respect to the absolute image and the linear forms of narration or the ephemeral and processual character of the work are highlighted as relevant aspects in her production.
